Using ChatGPT to study Chinese

Context can be everything. Have ChatGPT generate example sentences for various words, phrases, or grammar elements, such as "Give me ten sentences using 虽然，at HSK level 2."

Give the AI a list of vocabulary items you are currently studying and have it generate a story using them. Remember to specify a language level using an HSK level that matches your current level of study. You'll then have another passage contextualizing your active vocabulary, in addition to what's in your textbook.

Often the dictionary or textbook definitions of two words or phrases will be identical, but in fact they can have important differences in meaning and usage. 突然 and 突兀 both mean "sudden," but is there an important difference? Just ask the AI "What is the difference between 突然 and 突兀?" You'll get a detailed explanation along with examples of usage.

You can ask ChatGPT tohave a conversation with you on a particular topic, similar to texting back and forth with a Chinese friend. Great way to prep for the speaking section of a test, or general improvement in conversational ability.
